CSA FAQ's

What is Community Supported Agriculture, "CSA"?

CSA is a relationship between local farmers and customers that creates and supports a model for distributing local food.

The CSA member pays a set fee at the beginning of the season. Once products come into season, the CSA member receives a selection of veggies (and/or other farm products) on a regular basis. There is a shared risk between the CSA member and farmer – in bumper crop years, members can expect to receive extra produce and in more challenging years, some products may be in limited quantities due to factors outside of the farmers’ control.

This model greatly supports small scale farmers because it provides cash flow early on in the season when the farmer is making purchases and it creates a steady and predictable demand for the farmer. The member benefits by gaining access to quality local food and often a discount on products. Both parties benefit by together creating a model that supports a local food system, which benefits the local economy, environment, and overall wellbeing for all those involved.
